One idea per post
Must contain at least one engine, motor, or other. Max 4.
Think of it this way: the weirdest engine configuration I can think of is a 3-rotor wankel w/carburetter driving the front wheels with a super and turbocharged V4 driving the rear wheels. You can have 1 engine, up all the way to the max of 4. Go crazy.

Two powerpacks, one driving the front wheels and one driving the back. Each powerpack consisting of a turbine engine and a twin-bank two-stroke diesel radial - thus ensuring that the whole setup is multifuel capable. No transmission, as the blower stage of the turbine is tapped for charging the radial, and the shaft of the turbine drives concentrically through the radial into a torque blender. Speed is controlled by varying the pressure bias of the compressor stage and thus the turbine and the diesel radial vs. one another.

It’s the automotive equivalent of a mullet. 2 in the front 3 in the back.

The Megalo: engine in the front wheel; old style rotary so cylinders fixed to the wheel, crank stays still while the wheel spins.

A hybrid system is what I’m thinking of. Maybe a transverse flat 18 in the back for the rear wheels. And a radial engine in each of the front wheels.

Answers to this kind of question always involve Napier at some point.
This is the Nomad 1:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
A two stroke turbocompound diesel with supercharger, intercooler, turbocharger and an afterburner (because why not, as it was weird enough already).

Four radial engines (a la old piston-engine aircraft), one powering each wheel.

Nomad turbo compounded flat 12.
It’s a flat 12 that’s turbo compounded - it’s kind of like a gas turbine driving a compressor that’s feeding air to the piston engine that drives the turbine. Somewhere in there is a drive output that makes 3,000HP.
I’d make it run on diesel, and have a traction motor in the flywheel like a Honda Insight, but with a decoupling clutch. Then you could run all electric, use the engine to charge the batteries and provide motive power, and drain the batteries while using the engine to act as an electric supercharger.

Seems a bit lame in comparison to this but for me the og900's engine comes to mind. It’s a longitudinally mounted inline 4 at a slant of (If I can remember correctly) 45 degrees that drives the front wheels. And when I say longitudinal, I mean longitudinal...and backwards, power was transferred from the engine to transmission via chain driven gears. Also, have fun changing the timing belt.

I doubt it’s the weirdest we can come up with, but... well here you go:
Torch’s post about low cylinder count super cars got me thinking about an old v-12 XJS with a massive v-twin. Cylinder heads poking through the hood and exhaust running down the outside and under the door sills. Add a stirling engine driving the front wheels and driven from the engine coolant. What the heck, make it a supercharged diesel while we’re at it.
If only I had a garage...

The Napier Nomad is a good choice, but Napier did one weirder - the Deltic!
It’s basically 3 opposed piston engines (like a Junkers Jumo or Fairbanks Morse 38D, not a Subaru or Porsche) arranged in a triangular arrangement.
